Ted Adnan's Portraiture Lighting Technique Workshop - Pangkor.

Ted Adnan's Portraiture Lighting Technique Workshop - Pangkor. A Pictorial Report.

We boarded the ferry from Lumut jetty, late Friday afternoon after driving from Kuala Lumpur for about 4 hours. I asked Fizlee to take care of the box...

The ferry ride was very slow, I planned to take the Mesra Ferry service but instead ended up on Duta Pangkor ferry services, must be extra vigilant next time...

But since I am already there, I took the opportunity to create some pictures...

After checking in into our rooms at Palma Beach Resort, we proceed to the beach, which is only a couple dozen steps away, for an impromptu model shoot. The shoot is scheduled on Sunday morning in the itineary, but as the evening light is great and theres some free time, well......

I wanted a high key effect for this image. By spot metering on her shoulder, I correctly exposing her skin tone which overexposing the hesurrounding environmment. And Oh! I purposely desaturate the pix by 20%. Please, do not adjust your monitor...

Pity, there was some cloud cover over the horizon, so there was no blazing sunset over the horizon. Sunsets are cliched anyhow, you got them everyday everywhere at almost all parts of the World. I let r4tz, yusfotoquest and mata_batu shooting Fizlee away, then I made this image. Ghosting effect is due to a 4 second exposure that I made with the camera while using a rear curtain sync flash.
I made about 6-8 exposure before settling with this one

Damn the exposure, its the expression that I want *grins*

After we had dinner (fresh seafood are yummy ), we proceed to a little shop on the beach itself for some black coffee and smokes. I was demonstrating how to succesfully capture the smoke that arises from a cigarette...

...I was partially succesful, as theres a wind slowly picking up...

..and we were lashed by rain and wind from the sea. We had to take shelter...

..plastic groceries bag are your camera best friend in time like these

It lasted for about 40 minutes, when the wind died down and the heavy rain become a mere drizzle, we went back our rooms (which is a couple of dozen steps away..) for a spot of sleep...

..as the next day is the Big Day!

End of Part One
